This time I would like to talk about Nakano Broadway. Of course, Nakano Broadway does not do musicals like the original Broadway in New York. A long time ago, the Japanese must have stolen only the name. smile

Nakano Broadway is a commercial facility with many shops as tenants. Mandarake is a famous manga buying shop, but recently there are many luxury watch buying shops. The number of figure shops is increasing, and I went there again today, and there were many foreigners shopping there.

As someone who lives in the neighborhood of Nakano Broadway, Nakano Broadway is a pretty interesting building, but let me introduce you to a shop that is not well known to foreigners.

The store is a record store dedicated to Japanese Enka. Enka is a popular song from 50 years ago that is still loved by the elderly in Japan, and the enka singers come to the store for live performances and campaigns. It’s a small shop, so when the singer starts singing, the shop closes the shutter so that the sound doesn’t leak. It is located on the second floor of Nakano Broadway.

There was a time when I thought about negotiating whether I could perform at this enka record store as a singer, but I gave up because I couldn’t invite fans. I think it would be a good idea to buy your favorite figure at the figure shop on your way home.

hello. I’m YUKIO singing an original Japanese song. Have you ever listened to Japanese songs? Maybe you’ve only listened to English songs. So this time, I would like to introduce a Japanese song that you do not know.

Originally, there was no theory of Western music in Japan, and it seems that there was no concept of a song. A long time ago, at festivals, there was “Noh” in the performing arts performed at temples and shrines. “Noh” is still performed, but the songs sung there are completely different from Western music. The rhythmic feeling of the drum called “tsuzumi” is unique to Japan.

Apart from “Noh”, there is a folk song called “Minyo” that has been handed down in the local areas of Japan. It’s a folk song, but it’s completely different from Western folk songs, and it doesn’t exist in major or minor.

Today’s popular songs around the world are mainly equal temperament songs with fixed keys, but I think that the Japanese people’s original sense of songs is probably different from these.

Therefore, the genre of the song “Enka” was born in the modern era by matching this “Minyo” with Western music. “Enka” has a scale and is basically based on Western music.

Until about 50 years ago, Japanese people loved this “Enka”, but recently it has not been able to go against the trend of Western music, and it has been further improved, “Kayokyoku” and recently “J-POP”. So-called Western pop music is being sung actively.

For “J-POP” etc., only the lyrics are in Japanese, and I feel that it is almost the same as Western music, but if you listen carefully, the chord progression will change drastically, and there are many delicate ones. To do. Perhaps there is something unique to Japan that foreigners do not understand.

Speaking of my original song, it is a unique song that is completely different from the mainstream Japanese music. To be more specific, it may be a Japanese song based on old black music, but I don’t think there is such a song in blues or jazz. I can’t explain it well. (smile)

All I can say is that I honestly express what comes to my mind. I think that the “Noh” and “Minyo” introduced above are also unknowingly influenced.

Today is Sunday. I always go to the next town Nakano on Sundays. Nakano has a building called Broadway, and there are various shops in it. Unlike the real Broadway in New York, no musicals are played, but there is a Japanese-style figure shop and so on.
Recently, a lot of foreigners have visited, and more than half seem to be tourists from overseas.
There is a record shop specializing in Japanese enka in Nakano Broadway. Enka singers are holding mini-lives in the shop, but I also plan to sing there.
But I am not an enka singer.
I may not be able to sing at the store, but there are songs that are somewhat similar to Enka. Let me introduce the song this time. It is a song called “sea”. Actually there is no drum in this song.
